Mohnathaal - 2

Mohanthaal is a delightful Guajarathi sweet and it is little harder than usual Mysorepak.

Gram flour – 100gms

Sugar – 200gms

Water – 160ml

Cardamom powder – 1tsp

Saffron – a little

Ghee – 50 ml

Milk – a tbsp

Pistachio nuts for garnish.

Method of Preparation:

  1. Take a bowl; add gram flour, a tbsp of ghee and milk. Mix it well and make it into a crumble form. Pass the gram flour mixture through siever to bring the soft fine crumble texture.
  2. Add sugar and water in a vessel; add little saffron and cardamom powder into it. Bring this mixture into one string consistency sugar syrup.
  3. Take a heavy bottomed vessel, add ghee in it. Once it is melted, add crumble form of gramflour mixture and fry it nicely without changing the gramflour colour.
  4. Gradually pour the sugar syrup into gram flour mixture. Stir it continuously.
  5. Once the mixture reaches the semi-soft consistency, pour the mixture into the greased tray. Put pista over the Mohanthaal as garnish.
  6. Cut into the desired shape once the Mohanthaal is set well.
