Mohanthaal is a delightful Guajarathi sweet and it is little harder than usual Mysorepak.
Gram flour – 100gms
Sugar – 200gms
Water – 160ml
Cardamom powder – 1tsp
Saffron – a little
Ghee – 50 ml
Milk – a tbsp
Pistachio nuts for garnish.
Method of Preparation:
- Take a bowl; add gram flour, a tbsp of ghee and milk. Mix it well and make it into a crumble form. Pass the gram flour mixture through siever to bring the soft fine crumble texture.
- Add sugar and water in a vessel; add little saffron and cardamom powder into it. Bring this mixture into one string consistency sugar syrup.
- Take a heavy bottomed vessel, add ghee in it. Once it is melted, add crumble form of gramflour mixture and fry it nicely without changing the gramflour colour.
- Gradually pour the sugar syrup into gram flour mixture. Stir it continuously.
- Once the mixture reaches the semi-soft consistency, pour the mixture into the greased tray. Put pista over the Mohanthaal as garnish.
- Cut into the desired shape once the Mohanthaal is set well.
